Packed with exotic plants and animals, Palmitos Park is a 20 hectare (49 acre) botanic garden and aviary located just a short drive from the island’s popular beaches. The big appeal of this park is its great wealth of cacti and succulents, with over 160 different cactus types and nearly 1,000 palm trees of 42 varieties. The park houses over 1,500 exotic birds, representing about 230 different species. Hummingbirds, swans, ducks, parrots, crocodiles, and monkeys may be the park’s most popular residents, but you can also choose to visit the aquarium, noted for its large fish and coral displays and daily dolphin shows. This park is also home to Europe’s biggest butterfly house. As you near the exit, visit the park’s souvenir shop. Found this place by accident, we rented a car by our local hotel and got a bit lost, started seeing signs for a park and thought we would see what is was, We are so happy that we found it as we loved our day out here! We spent hour looking at the animals, they looked happy and well looked after, one of my favourite parts of this park is how it is laid out, and where it is situated! Getting to the top for the bird show is a must for anyone! We got to watch the birds hunt and fly free in such a vast open space! Nothing I have ever seen before in other parks! A must for the whole family!
For 30 euros we hesitated whether to go there or not. After we walked in and saw the dolphins show we completely changed our minds. We saw the exotic birds show as well which was very nice. The place itself is an amazing garden in the valley of two mountains which gives it a spectacular atmosphere and view.
