Known for its classic Art Deco architecture, Chrysler Building is one of the city's most recognizable landmarks. Located on Manhattan's east side, the 319 m (1046 ft) skyscraper, built in 1930, used to be the world's tallest building until the construction of the Empire State Building. Because it was originally intended to be the Chrysler Corporation's headquarters, the building has replicas of 1929 Chrysler radiator caps as the corner ornamentation on the 31st floor. Although much of the building is leased to businesses and unavailable to visitors, take a moment to admire the building's exterior and visit the lobby to get a closer look at the Art Deco details and the renowned ceiling mural by Edward Trumbull. Chrysler Building reviews
My 8 yo and I entered, masked of course, on Monday 8/16/2021 at 1:30pm and were immediately ordered out of the lobby by a security guard. We asked if the lobby would ever be open to the public and he.... more »
There are many built in NY. The best elevator inside the building has to be in here. Apart from this though, nothing more for tourists more »
The Chrysler Building is a New York icon featured in many films and comprises the skyline. Art Deco architectural style with terraced crown and recognized spire, chrome plating, stainless steel exteriors. Modernism and luxury style, the crown's distinctive triangular windows are illuminated by fluorescent lights in various colors pending the occasion. In the past I came here for employment interviews and always in awe with admiration of the art deco lobby area of the walls and ceiling. The Chrysler Building is full of history both architectural and non-architectural.
The view is beautiful. The architecture design is marvelous. From the building you can see the view of New York City. You will love this building. You need to have your Photo I.D to be able to access the building. It's used to be the world tallest building in the past. If you have fear for heights and tall buildings make sure you have someone by your side who will support you. Viewing a tall building of this magnitude in New York could be terrifying for nervous people. Lol. You will love taking pictures from this building and even far away the building. Its lovely for post cards.
