At the southern tip of Manhattan, beyond the busy streets and skyscrapers, is the green urban oasis of SeaGlass Carousel at The Battery. The park is named after the artillery batteries once placed here as the first line of defenses during the city's early years. Today the park gives locals and visitors a chance to enjoy lush gardens, take a leisurely stroll, and admire the Statue of Liberty. Many monuments, memorials, and historical landmarks are located in the park. Don't miss Castle Clinton, the early 19th-century fort that served as the U.S. Army headquarters during the War of 1812 and later as America's first immigration station. While the park’s location on the Hudson River provides excellent views, on a windy day it can be very chilly, so bring an extra layer. SeaGlass Carousel at The Battery reviews
-
The SeaGlass Carousel is a magical, fish-themed carousel in Battery Park at the southern tip of Manhattan. With no center pole, riders move up and down and swirl around. It cost $5 for a ride of about 3-1/2 minutes or so. Met up with a few friends for Happy Hour and some sunset watching on a Thursday when we got lured by its glowing lights and upbeat music. Definitely go at night when the lights come up and you will glow in the dark for a few minutes =]

It looks great and my kids were super impressed, but we couldn't go on it because all kids under 42 inches have to ride on an adult's lap, and I had more than 1 kid under 42 inches with me. I wish I had known that before making the trip. That rule is listed on their website, but it's not at all obvious until you get there. I will probably go back when I have another adult with me because it looks very fun for little kids.
