Cayman Turtle Centre: Island Wildlife Encounter
Groups of sea turtles and an array of exotic animals appear during a visit to Cayman Turtle Centre: Island Wildlife Encounter, a turtle meat farm and conservation park. Established in 1968, the farm aims to protect the depleting population of wild green sea turtles from poaching through a combination of breeding for the meat industry, and the annual release of captive turtles into the wild. Stretching over 9.3 ha (23 ac), the farm is also home to a 2.7 m (9 ft) saltwater crocodile, an exhibit called “Predator’s Reef,” and the largest swimming pool on the island. Despite having attracted controversy in the past, there are also numerous spots where you can hold and touch yearling turtles--a rare opportunity to see the beautiful creatures up close. We explored the Turtle Center as part of the excursion on our cruise. We enjoyed the park very much! But had to give a special shout out to Tony our tour guide. He did a great job explaining the facility and how they help the turtles year round. He was very funny and kind! There were two different places to eat but we ate the bigger place in the park. It was lunch type foods with a bar. We were able look at the VERY large turtles and then enter into small tanks with smaller turtles. There was an area to snorkel and a few other activities but we didn’t do any of those. Would be a fun place to bring kids!

Very nice place. The turtles are huge! Lots of fun things to do, for adults and kids: you can feed turtles ($5/bag; a bag is huge, so one is enough), pet small turtles, snorkel with them (there could be like 15 turtles around you), watch crocodile feeding, turtle feeding and shark feeding. And you can relax on chairs on the small "beach", or go to a restaurant. We had a very nice day spent. The highlight was snorkeling and feeding/petting. This is probably #2 thing to do around the island after Stingray City. You can get there by bus, $2.5 per person. When going back, walk north to the next big intersection (7 min walk), you will catch a bus there much faster.
