Explore the medieval Turku Castle, a historical monument that has protected the Aura River since the 13th century. Built in the 1280s as a military fortress to provide protection to the surrounding area and river, this castle is one of the oldest buildings in Finland that is open to the public. View the imposing symbol of medieval architecture, which has survived centuries of sieges and different reigning groups. Experience the original grandeur of this fortress, completely renovated in 1993, with a guided tour that will outline the structure's architectural, cultural, and historical relevance to Finland and other Nordic countries. Beautiful castle… really well organised and setup. Beautiful restored and a very well created route through the castle. It gives a great overview of the different times it functioned.

The visit was very interesting. It took us over 3 hours to go around the castle. The route is well signposted and there were plenty of interesting descriptions in English (and Finnish and Swedish).

Quite interesting, but with all the 7 floors one can not study all about it all at once. I recommend 3 hours for the visit arrive well prepared with your bottle of water and the castle's guide audio downloaded (if you need it). Tell your socials that sometimes you won't be online, the signal is low in some areas. I gave 1 less star for most of the readings were so low we had to crouch. Have fun there!

I underestimated how interesting this visit would be! The perfect mixture of medieval history, restoration, and modern use of the premises. The place is really impressive and the restoration is amazing. Even the places you can rent for events are shown and they are huge and cozy. You must set aside a few hours for this visit however, especially if you are interested in the exhibitions. Would definitely recommend a visit.
