Create an itinerary including Goshikinuma Lake
Take a walk around Goshikinuma Lake, a set of five strikingly colored lakes. The lakes have existed since 1887, when a nearby volcano erupted and sent a mass of earth and rubble down into what was then a river, creating separate bodies of water. Minerals in the earth have made the water of each a different shade of blue, while plants and algae in the depths have a red tinge, creating a captivating scene of vivid colors. Hike between the five main lakes to snap photos capturing each one's individual look. Plan your visit to Goshikinuma Lake and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Kitashiobara-mura trip maker app.

  • I visited in the middle of May when the fresh green was dazzling. The contrast between the green of the trees and the blue of the lake surface was beautiful. The walking paths vary depending on the location, such as rugged and difficult to walk, well-maintained paths, and low wooden paths. It is recommended that you wear sneakers that are easy to walk in and clothes that allow you to adjust your body temperature.
  • Autumn leaves were so beautiful At the top of the mountain, the autumn leaves are nearing their end.
