Take a bath in hot springs at Osore-zan Bodai-ji Temple, one of the three greatest holy grounds in Japan. Believed to be "gates of Hell" by some, this magic misty temple complex has a strong smell of sulfur due to past volcanic activity. Set in the midst of an extraterrestrial landscape, the area has been officially a place of reverence since 862 CE as a temple complex that's centered around Bodaiji Temple on the site. This popular 817 m high (2,884 ft) "Mount Fear" features hot springs, shrines, blasted rocks and bubbling pits, and memorial effigies of children. Ring a bell in memory of earthquake victims. • A mysterious place that makes you want to come again once you go
  • There were fewer windmills than I saw in the photo, probably because it was a bad time.
