Create an itinerary including Samurai District
Head back into an important and iconic part of Japanese history during a walk through Samurai District, an area of town that once housed 80 samurai warriors and their families. The well-preserved buildings sit on wide, tree-lined streets, giving the district a peaceful atmosphere. With some dating back to the 17th century, the buildings here stand as remarkably well-maintained archetypes of contemporary architecture. Six of the houses remain open to the public, and each gives an impression of the lifestyle, fashion, and traditions of their inhabitants, while also now containing museums, gift shops, and restaurants. • It's unique. Some house allow you to hold real katana. In winter, it's very cold. Most of samurai house is closed at 5PM. So it's better to come early.
