See, feed, and touch all sorts of exotic marine creatures at Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay. More than 2,000 animals inhabit the various displays, including green sea turtles, giant rays, a golden crocodile, piranhas, and various species of sharks. Check out the main tank--its volume of 4.9 million liters (1.3 million gallons) makes it one of the largest in North America. It contains a shipwreck among the reefs. Walk through the tank's underwater tunnel before taking part in animal encounters, such as feeding sea turtles. Guests of the hotel who are certified divers can even dive with the 30 or so sharks in the main tank. Do not waste your money going to this aquarium. It cost $29/person and it only took us 10 mins to walk through the entire place. Very boring. We were underwhelmed. Definitely tourist trap.

It was not packed at all, I visited in a Saturday morning. The decoration was pretty nice but was expecting more variety of animals.

An amazing aquarium. Featuring an awesome range of land based, freshwater and saltwater species the aquarium is set in an ancient ruins theme with a tropical environment feel. Lots of interpretive signs to explain the facts and background on each of the exhibits. There are staff positioned throughout the aquarium to mind certain exhibits such as the piranha and such for obvious reasons. They are happy to answer any questions and help you understand the exhibit subject. It’s not a huge aquarium but you can easily spend an hour taking it all in. Definitely worth the entry fee. Do mind they don’t allow outside food or beverages so plan accordingly and eat at the outside food court beforehand or after the tour. Handicap accessible throughout. They offer Nevada and military/veteran discounts.

The Shark Reef Aquarium is a must for all that wonder in the marvels on the ocean. We enjoyed the walk around the different tanks and also were able to touch some of the rays in the open tank. What I found most enjoyable was the viewing area was made out as if it was a sunken ship with holes covered with glass so you can see the sharks(hammerheads and various other types), turtles and fish. The tank with the Jellyfish was so cool. Definitely worth the visit, we would have gone back if we had the time.
