The Walt Disney Concert Hall at 111 South Grand Avenue in downtown Los Angeles, California, is the fourth hall of the Los Angeles Music Center and was designed by Frank Gehry. It opened on October 24, 2003. Bounded by Hope Street, Grand Avenue, and 1st and 2nd Streets, it seats 2,265 people and serves, among other purposes, as the home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic orchestra and the Los Angeles Master Chorale. The hall is a compromise between a vineyard-style seating configuration, like the Berliner Philharmonie by Hans Scharoun, and a classical shoebox design like the Vienna Musikverein or the Boston Symphony Hall.Make Walt Disney Concert Hall a centerpiece of your Los Angeles vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Los Angeles trip planner.
Lillian Disney made an initial gift of $50 million in 1987 to build a performance venue as a gift to the people of Los Angeles and a tribute to Walt Disney's devotion to the arts and to the city. Both Gehry's architecture and the acoustics of the concert hall, designed by Minoru Nagata, the final completion supervised by Nagata's assistant and protege Yasuhisa Toyota, have been praised, in contrast to its predecessor, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.

Absolutely incredible! The architecture is just breathtaking. Every corner that you turn is a new surprise. The concert hall itself is so incredibly laid out that acoustically it's one of the best concert Halls I've ever visited in the entire world. And it's just gorgeous. Visit for the architecture alone, but absolutely enjoy the music. Especially there new works programs. Can't wait to go again.

This is my favorite destination in Los Angeles. The building itself is incredible. One of Frank Gehry's best architectural achievements. The roof top garden and the fountain made from Delft china, are a wonderful spot to get away in the afternoon. Inside you are surrounded by Douglas Fir clad walls. In the auditorium is a pipe organ like no other on the planet. Go to the LA PHIL website for the best ticket prices. There are no bad seats here. Easily accessible by public transportation. In the neighborhood are 2 museums and LA OPERA.
