Visit one of the country's largest and most-visited urban parks in the heart of the city at Golden Gate Park. The rectangular park is home to numerous museums, lakes, a botanical garden and conservatory, landscaped gardens, and athletic facilities. Spend a relaxing afternoon exploring the Japanese Tea Garden, or tour the previous home of the San Francisco 49ers football team, Kezar Stadium. Pack a picnic to enjoy lakeside or on one of the park's shaded lawns. Due to the park's sheer size, 412 hectares (1,017 acres), you might want to plan to take a bus or free shuttle back to the city center after exploring the park. Do not miss out on this treasure. This park is absolutely beautiful, though you need a month to really enjoy its complete beauty!

Such an amazing space. There is something for everyone inside the leafy green boundaries of Golden Gate Park. Understand that you cannot see it all in one day. Choose your activities carefully and plan your transportation ahead of time. There are numerous free spaces with no fees. But there are a few attractions you simply must see. The Academy of Sciences and Japanese Tea Gardens are two I highly recommend. Try for 1 pm at the Tea Garden and look for the free tour provided by the SF Library.

Spacious park with ample free parking everywhere. Lots to see, lots of benches to rest on. Park is very well kept. Different theme areas that are very well organized. Eateries and bathrooms are strangely non-existent in most places which isn't good and the reason we couldn't stay longer. Definitely need several days to explore even a small part of this massive park.
