Napa Valley's oldest continuously operating winery, Beringer Vineyards was established in 1873. Now on a World Heritage site, the winery burst onto the world scene in 1939, when Hollywood stars Clark Cable and Carole Lombard visited. The first of California's wineries open to the public after Prohibition, the winery continues to draw wine enthusiasts from around the globe. Join the winery's daily "legacy" tour for a look at traditional methods of winemaking. Visitors must be over 21 to take the tour, which includes tastings from barrels as well as bottles. • The grounds are beautiful. But the experience was disappointing. The website does not explain that the most affordable option is not a tasting but rather a small glass of wine to sip as you stroll...

  • Recommend visiting this place even if you don't drink wine. The Rhine house, wine caves are worth seeing. The wines were awesome and the staff who poured our tasting wines was knowledgeable and friendly. Maurice informed us a lot about the place and made such good conversation we didn't know how the time passed.
  • Very pricey for a glass of wine and a 10 minute self guided tour. It cost us $74 for 2 glasses with an unwarranted tip and tax. In addition, the gentleman told us no cash. Not enjoyable at all. In the good old days, it was busy, beautiful and we really enjoyed it. This was a huge letdown.
