Nevada Falls Loop, Yosemite National Park

Hike to the top of one of Yosemite's most recognizable features on the Nevada Falls Loop. The loop consists of two trails leading to the top of Nevada Fall: the Mist Trail and the John Muir Trail. The Mist Trail offers a steeper climb of 610 m (2,000 ft) elevation change, and receives lots of spray from the fall (hence the name). Expect slippery footing. This trail also takes you via the top of the smaller Vernal Fall, with views straight down the 97 m (317 ft) cascade. The John Muir Trail takes a longer, less steep route through a more wooded area. Along the way you will see a wider panorama of Nevada Fall, views of Vernal Fall from above, and great vistas of Liberty Cap. The two trails meet at the top of Nevada Fall, from where you can admire stunning close-up views of the thunderous 181 m (594 ft) waterfall. Exercise caution near flowing water and on slippery rock.
